Specialty Coffee—Brief Overview
Coffee is a popular beverage that is produced from roasted and ground coffee beans from the coffee plant. Coffee is picked as a fruit from the tree and this fruit undergoes a various processes (i.e. roasting, grinding, etc.) with the end result landing in your mug.
The process of producing coffee is:
The coffee bean is located in the fruit of the coffee tree and are known as coffee cherries. After picking the coffee cherries from the tree, the coffee beans are then extracted from within the fruit and you are left with two coffee beans from each coffee cherry. Essentially, to make any type of coffee you need the coffee beans from coffee cherries.
After separating the raw beans from the cherries, this bean must be roasted. Coffee is roasted by roasting machines in factories. The method and degree of roasting is one of the most crucially important steps which provide a diversity of coffee and flavors.
After roasting, the coffee beans are then ready to proceed to the coffee grinder to be ground in various size and then prepared into various coffee beverages (e.g. Turkish coffee, Espresso, French, etc.)
In recent years Brazil has been the biggest producer of coffee by cultivated one third of the world’s coffee, followed by Vietnam, Columbia, Indonesia and other countries.
